Community Art Initiatives – College

At College, the Welcome Mat features a river meandering through a landscape which contains references to wildlife, Native American culture, agriculture, and survey grids. The diversity and stability of the community is identified by the circle of people, and symbolized by brick patterns reminiscent of historic architecture and local manufacture. The "awakening" that education accomplishes is suggested by the central burst in the design. Design by Sheryl Hunter.
