ADA Services Manager Pat Hall says, "As a person with a disability who relies almost solely on public transportation, I understand the issues that we face every day as we try to access the various modes of transportation. Metro has made a lot of changes to improve our services to customers with disabilities and I am pleased to be one of the change agents! Our bus fleet is now 100% wheelchair accessible and we are expanding Metro Call-A-Ride van fleet. But while you may see improvements in lift reliability and expanded Call-A-Ride services, there is still much to be done to bring Metro into full compliance with the ADA! I am working with the agency staff to improve their sensitivity to all customers and enhance their understanding of the ADA as it relates to transportation. In addition, I am working with members of the disability community and agencies that provide services to individuals with disabilities to ensure that we are working as partners to improve the transportation services in the region."

Over the next year, you can expect to see new bus transfer centers, a new paratransit eligibility process, new paratransit and reduced fare identification cards, continued growth in the Metro Call-A-Ride van fleet, improved bus stop accessibility, and better integration of our bus, light rail, and paratransit services.

Transportation is a vital link to access in the community, but transportation alone does not make a community accessible. A partnership of various stakeholders is needed to remove barriers and make the community accessible. We encourage you to work together with Metro to make our communities in this region more accessible, because together we are better! Metro is and is on the way…with ADA!
